1. Just arrived in Madagascar

Tanya and Austin Propst are the new ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) coordinators for Madagascar. They have just arrived in what will be their new home for the next four years. The YAGM program is reliant on the coordinators who facilitate the young adults’ ministry and provide mentoring and spiritual guidance

2. Bishop Moyo of Zimbabwe visits synod

Bishop Ambrose Moyo, retired Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe and former head of the Lutheran Communion of Southern Africa, came to the US through the invitation of ELCA Global Mission. He is pictured here with NC Synod Bishop Leonard Bolick making a Skype call to the Ecumenical Committee during a visit on December 8.

3. 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering

Jesus is our peace. In his life and death on the cross, Jesus broke down the dividing walls so that we are no longer strangers and outsiders, but we are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God. The foundation of God’s house was build of apostles and prophets, and Jesus, the cornerstone, holds it all together. (Ephesians 2:14-20 paraphrased)

4. Taking a look at ELCA's Region 9

One of the two ministry emphases highlighted in our synod is that of the ELCA’s Region 9. The Rev. Harvey Huntley, Jr., pictured here in his NC Synod office, is the region’s coordinator. He offers an overview of the region's ministry and describes a current collaboration of Region 9 with the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church in mission and ministry with Native American peoples in our region.
