About Tammy Jones West
My commitment to passing on faith includes helping congregations equip families to be places where faith is talked about, shared and deepened. I have the priviledge of spending time with some amazing young people. Our synodical youth events span the ages from 3-12th grade while also including young adults - YARPs (Young Adult Resource Persons) where my goal is to train them to serve our congregations. They are a wonderful reminder that their leadership is a gift today and will be tomorrow too.
I grew up at Ascension Lutheran, Shelby and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1991. I married Eric 19 years ago and we have one son, Robert 15 yrs, and a cat named Pounce. In my leisure time I enjoy cooking (these guys can EAT!) and scrapbooking, anything but cleaning. I am a member at Mt. Olive, Hickory where Eric and I share the college-age Sunday School class. This fall I began year four as adjunct faculty at Lenoir^Rhyne University, teaching a class in family ministry. I really enjoy the experience and I am blessed to spend time with amazing young adults for three hours each week. I was commissioned as an Associate in Ministry in June of 2008 and graduated from Luther Seminary in May 2009 with a Masters of Arts in Religion - Children, Youth and Family.
